How the score works

NO < 30 MAYBE 30–60 GO > 60
temperature
Primary factor. Peak +75 in the 60-70°F band. -15 below 30°F (numb hands), -10 at 80-90°F (hot rock), -30 at extremes. Includes a sun-on-rock bump per crag aspect (south-facing can run +10°F vs air on sunny days).
dewpoint spread
-30 to +10 based on (temp − dewpoint). Big spread = dry air = prime. Spread <5°F = condensation, rock will slick up. This is why 70°F dry beats 60°F clammy.
dewpoint level
0 to -25 once dewpoint climbs above 50°F. Even with good spread, humid air at 65°F+ dewpoint is greasy.
dry penalty
0 to -40 based on hours since last ≥0.05" rain. Overhung crags get the penalty halved (capped at -15) — some walls dry even right after rain, others don't.
wind bonus
-5 to +5. 5-15mph helps drying; >25mph is unpleasant.
precip outlook
0 to -25 based on chance of rain in the next ~3 hours.
